How To Help

Fair Haven tries to make an unbearable situation a little better for families when they come to a different place.

Most of the time, they left with nothing. When you are trying to stay alive and not get hit again, you don’t think about pajamas and deodorant.

When a new victim enters our shelter for abused women and their children, we have ready for her on her bed, and her children’s, – a toiletry box containing shampoo, soap, loofah, toothbrush/paste, etc. We have towels and washcloths, a new pillow and pillowcase, and pajamas also. The children’s beds have stuffed animals on them. They will take all these items with them when they leave because they will need them all later in their new home.

Fair Haven is now in need of gently-used, or new, summer pajamas, all sizes and styles, light bathrobes and slippers too.

Also needed are children/youth pajamas, girl and boy, from infant to 17 years old. Lightweight material is needed.

We also need new pillows (or slightly used), pillowcases, towels and especially washcloths.

Please check your closet for these items and take those you really don’t need to Fair Haven Market with a note the items are for the shelter.

Fair Haven Market is located at 488 SW Broad Street, open Monday – Friday 9am – 6pm, 588-1998.
